County Fair

Yep, it's that time of year already...County Fair time. We started last Saturday with the annual Mud Run. This was the first year that I braved it and took Preston. Well to be honest, I wasn't going to, but Wayland asked him if he was going and I wish you could have seen the look on his face. It's like when a dogs ears perk up and they know something fantastic in just around the corner. He says, "mud run? what's a mud run?" After an explanation, he immediately wants to go....even though the mud run doesn't begin for another six hours! So needless to say, I took the kids and they thought it was fabulous. Preston thought it was so cool to get mud thrown on him by the trucks and cambree liked the "monster trucks." I guess you could say that I am raising a couple of hillbilly children and a definite tom-boy.

Last night was the tractor pull and Preston is now old enough to give it a try. So off we went to the fairgrounds. It's a big tractor for the four year olds to pedal...add to that the fact that it doesn't work properly and they let the dirt build up in front of the sled and you have a non-eventful, somewhat boring tractor pull. The first two kids up did a good job, but then it went downhill from there. I don't think anyone else made it farther than 3 feet. They all gave it a shot though! We stuck around to watch Koby in the 6 year old division and boy did we get a show! He and Chayde Snyder had to have two pull-offs before Koby was determined the winner! He was funny...the first pull he did without hands and lots of facial expression. They had fun and that's what matters. Tonight we are taking a break, but tomorrow morning we are entering some photos in the exhibits, so we'll see how they do.

Today we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Melissa and Harper. They are going to go swimming with us, Melissa is going to give water aerobics a try, and we are going to have a photo shoot later this evening! We are so excited for all the fun we are going to have today and tomorrow!
