Goodbye...

A few days ago I said goodbye to my Grandpa (papa) Jon Cornelius. He died of complications of colon cancer on May 19th. He was 72 years old and lived in Bowling Green Florida. Unfortunately, I don't have any recent pictures of him to post, but I will always remember him like he was before he got sick. I flew to Florida on Monday to be there to make arrangements for his funeral and to lay him to rest. Wednesday we didn't have anything funeral related, so we drove about 2 hours to Daytona beach. It was AMAZING! Jeremy is going to have to get over his dis-like of flying and the ocean, because I intend to go back, soon! It was a great day because the beach wasn't too crowded and the water was perfect! I saw a jellyfish (washed up on the beach), huge pelicans, dolphins and Jennifer found a sand dollar. It was a great way to spend the day, because it is just what Grandpa would have done if he had been there.

It is amazing what something like this will do for a person. I am sad that my grandpa is gone, but I am so relieved that he will no longer be in pain and that he has been made well again. But at the same time, I have learned a great lesson....Don't take your time with someone for granted and don't assume that you will always have more time. I kept hearing that he was doing good and that things were going well, so I thought I could keep coming up with excuses not to go down there and see him. I have two kids who I would have to make arrangements for, plane tickets are expensive, I would have to stay in a hotel....etc, etc. Amazingly, when I got the call that he was gone, I managed to take care of all those issues in a matter of about 45 minutes. My priorities changed in a hurry. So my resolution coming home from Florida is that I won't keep putting things off. Not just seeing people, but doing the things I want to do. There's no time like the present to make things happen!

What are you going to make happen today?
