Quick, Good meal

I just got a new cookbook and tried a really simple recipe tonight. It was basically sloppy joes, but you know how cookbooks can't just call them that!

If you don't know, I LOVE cookbooks....not sure why, but I love to look through them and read them. I don't always try all the recipes I want to, but I enjoy them nonetheless!

I have tried several sloppy joe recipes over the years and none of them were worth the time and lengthy ingredient list. This list was short and simple and I thought "Why not, I need something simple tonight and I have all the ingredients already."

So here it is:

1 lb hamburger
1 onion, chopped {I just added a couple handfuls of onion/green peppers I had already chopped in the freezer}
1 cup catsup
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons worchestershire
salt and pepper

cook HB and onion, drain. Add catsup, worchestershire, water and salt and pepper and simmer for 20 minutes.

I have to say that I will never buy another sloppy joe mix. This was better than any already prepared sauce you can buy at the store and you will almost always be guaranteed to have these ingredients on hand!

Try it and let me know what you think!

That's my sloppy joe recipe! Mom has a 'ketchup' cookbook that she found it in. This is also what I use for 'frito pies.'

When we were early married I made sloppy joes for the first time. The recipe called for 1 cup BBQ sauce. For some reason I read 1 bottle BBQ sauce. Brian swears they were so gross they molded overnight! It took many, many years before I could try sloppy joes again! Even now, he turns up his nose but chokes it down. Amazingly, he will snarf down two or three if my mom or grandma makes them!
