More Wednesday Album

So let me explain the Wednesday album in case you don't know what I am talking about.

Whatever day of the week my kids were born on {Wednesday in Westynn's case} I took a picture on that day every week until they turned one. Then I compile all the photos and put them into one album. It is so fascinating to see them change from week to week. Some weeks there isn't much change, but other weeks they seem to transform into new children.

I did Preston and Cambree's albums the traditional way with photo prints and scrapbook paper. Preston's is very simple and you can most certainly tell that it was my first attempt. CJ's is a little more embellished, but I think mostly because it was FUN to make girly pages!! I am sad to report that their albums, along with all my birthday photo books, are still packed away in a box in the storage room because I don't know where to put them. I guess I am going to have to add a cute basket to my shopping list so that I can put them all out and the kids can look at them again. That's the best part of this whole process....they love looking back at themselves as babies and remembering all their parties.

Now about Westynn's album...it is a digital album and once I have all the pages completed I will most likely print them out and put them into a traditional scrapbook album. Why am I doing it this way? Well there are a couple of reasons.

1) I have pretty much transitioned to digital scrapbooking, even though I still love many aspects of the traditional route of memory keeping. What I love most about digital is that I don't have to drag out anything and with just the click of my trusty ol' mouse I can move things around on the page, add, delete until my hearts content. No waiting on adhesives to dry, no trying to make pictures and elements fit into certain spots, not having to worry about bulky items in my albums.

2) The second thing i love about this method of memory keeping is that I can take my stuff with me anywhere by simply picking up my laptop and my hard drive. I can work upstairs if I want, downstairs while watching tv, or on the road. {Let me just say that this has not made it any easier to 'keep up.'}

3) I like that I can buy a digital product once and use it again and again and again...as many times as I want. I can resize them, change their color, flip them upside down...the possibilities are endless.

4) Digital Templates...they give me a great jumping off point and speed up my process ten fold.

5) I'm sort of a techy and this feels very techy to me!

6) And the reason that I will print them out and put in an album instead of just having a book printed is that it will allow me to add some keepsakes like cards, hospital bracelets and other things that I couldn't do in a photo book.

Once I get Westynn's Wednesday Album done, I am going to try a new system that I hope {HOPE} will allow me to get caught back up and stay current a little easier. Of course, it will be a monumental task to reclaim the last three years. UGH!

A couple more notes about this album. Because I am doing it digitally, I am able to use the same kit and really get my monies worth as well as keep the album very cohesive. I have also limited myself to two fonts...both I got free off the Internet. Skinny Jeans and Jenna Sue...google them if you want to download them.

I'm almost a third of the way finished already and that feels GOOD!  So, hypothetically, if I keep doing 4-5 pages per day I will finish in approximately 10 days.  That's a good goal, but I know what happens...LIFE!  Inevitably, something will come up or I will get stumped and take a day off and this will just be another project sitting on my hard drive unfinished.

Please don't let that happen to me...ask me about it when you see me.  Text me.  Call me.  Just DON'T let me not finish this album.  I really want to have it finished and printed before the end of the month.  That's do-able!!

Plus, I have a whole summer's worth of activities to plan before the kids get out of school!
