New Favorite Photo

This is my new favorite photo {at least 'till I take a new favorite!}

As he lifted her over the fence he asked,

"Are you my cowgirl?"

She answered in the sweet voice she uses only for her daddy, "YES!!!"

Then they went to look at the strawberries to see who was in heat!

Cambree obviously found one!

T-ball finale!

You can rest knowing that this will be the last post about t-ball this summer! We played our final games on Saturday in a tournament {which since they don't keep score, we don't really know who won....Preston believes we are the champions!}

{Our Blue Team}

It was a hot, miserable day. One I hope not to repeat for at least a year! Unfortunately, I know it won't be the last time I am forced outside this summer for a long period of time...fireworks sales is coming up!

IMG_5984

I am very proud of Preston for his first t-ball season. He did a fantastic job of listening to his coaches and working hard to improve with each game and practice. I am also very grateful to the coaches who put in so much time to make the season so much fun for the kids. It takes a lot of patience to work with kids that many times a week during the summer and they did a terrific job!

Preston is already looking forward to next year and wondering, "Will I be able to hit a home run next year?"

Wrong Number

Jeremy just got a text message from a number we don't recognize, but it had the funniest thing on it...

"Sorry for your loss...i heard Michael Jackson died yesterday and i know how he touched you when you were little."

I admit that I laughed out loud and I would really like to know who sent this to him, but I guess whoever it is has a sense of humor!

I heard on the radio too that Amazon and Barnes & Noble have sold out of M.J. cd's today and over 60% of their sales today has been for M.J.

2 months

That's how long I have left in this pregnancy! And if I am being honest, right now that sounds like an eternity!! When I look at the calendar and the things we have to look forward to between now and then, I know that it really isn't all that long.

But I read yesterday that at 31 weeks, our baby is about 3.3 lbs or the size of 4 navel oranges {imagine having that rolling around in your belly at all hours of the day} and he is already 16 inches long.

The other two were less than 20 inches, so that means at least he won't be getting much longer, but according to my research he is about to go on a growth spurt! This means soon I will be carrying around 5 navel oranges! And Jeremy just can't seem to understand why I can't get out of bed or up out of the chair...men, they just don't get this pregnancy thing!

In other baby news, he is a very active baby. I don't remember my other two moving as much as he does, but then again it has been a few years since I was pregnant with them! It never fails that he wants to practice his Tae Kwan Do {however you spell those fancy martial arts} about the time I am ready for bed and again when I get up during the night for a pit stop. And I am fairly convinced that he thinks my bladder is either a punching bag or a kick boxing bag....depending on his practice schedule.

One more baby related thing before I leave you for today. In light of the fact that I am at the two month mark today, I want to issue a naming poll. That's right, I want to here what you all think we are naming baby Stapleton #3. Here are the criteria for the name:

1. It's a boy name .... it's not a cross gender name
2. It starts with W
3. It has exactly 7 letters ... no more, no less!
{This came about because our other two have 7 letters by random coincidence and I decided that baby #3 would also have 7 letters so that he wouldn't feel shafted later in life! And yes, this was a big factor in the name selection process!}

So, leave a comment with what your best guess is at the name. I am anxious to hear and see your thoughts, plus I think this will make a great page in W's baby book! Get Crackin'!

Shootin' Family

Well it's official...

We are a shootin' family! We all love the feel of a firearm in our hand, the sound of a shot being fired and the ping of the bullet hitting the target.

IMG_5726

On Sunday, Preston got to use his dad's old chipmunk rifle. To a boy of 5, this is a dream come true!

IMG_5722EDIT

First Papa demanded some target practice and by the time I arrived, Preston was all set to show me just how good he had gotten. In fact, he had learned to shoot the peep site and didn't end up having to have a small scope put on. {I don't know who was happier, Preston or Papa!}

Upon completion of his shooting demonstration, Preston wanted me to shoot his gun and see if I could hit the target! He was quite impressed that I hit it the first time....and I was reminded of how much I enjoy target shooting.

IMG_5748

And, of course, you know who had to prove that she could shoot as well! {She is just adorable, no matter what it is she is doing!!}

IMG_5743

Once it was proven that, yes, in fact, Mom can hit the target Preston was ready for Papa to take him on his first Jack Rabbit hunt. {You may remember that he has shot a cottontail before}.

IMG_5752

I was so glad that I happened to be there for this joyous occassion! It was such a riot to ride in the pickup with Preston as we "hunted" for a jack rabbit and then to watch the whole process of him shooting it and claiming his kill.

IMG_5757

Every little boy should have the chance to go rabbit hunting with his Papa and have his Mom there to document the whole event!

Surviving Day 1

Well we officially survived day one of cheerleading camp! It was a long and exhausting one though. We left Protection yesterday morning at 6:45 AM! Stopped in Coldwater & picked up a few more girls and then off to McPherson we went!

I was prepared for the long day....baby was not! He didn't appreciate all the noise that goes on around here. Loud music, screaming chicks, giggly girls...slamming dorm doors....you get the idea. He made his presence very known yesterday and is right now telling me that he wants NO PART of what is going to go on today! My legs are a tad bit swollen and achy, but alas I will survive!

The girls had a great day. Lots of information thrown at them in a short period of time....Information overload perhaps. But they did an awesome job at evals last night. The were evaluated on 3 sidelines they learned and they came away with a blue ribbon and a spirit stick {which let me just take a moment to say, this award has lost some of its luster...all squads get one these days....but it is still fun for the girls, so that's what's important}.

After some stormy weather and a middle of the night thunderstorm I think we are ready to go and tackle another day!

CHEERS!

Fun with Friends

Okay, I apologize to Kara and John for this post taking me a week, but that is just how we roll around here sometimes!

Last Sunday, we went to John and Kara's and just hung out! It was so much fun to be {BE} with friends....not have any party plans to work on, not have to fit conversations in amongst other guests. Just some one on one time alone to catch up and rejuvenate.

John grilled burgers {why didn't I photograph this?} Kara fixed a mean pasta salad and some gooey brownies and rice krispie treats! It was a perfect lunch...simple and delicious!

IMG_5634

Then we just sat around and watched the kids play. Jeremy and John talked hunting, Kara and I talked babies....CAUSE she is having another one too we just found out! Congrats to them! And then the kids played in the sprinkler.

IMG_5640

Jaris didn't like it so much...it was COLD!

IMG_5647

But my kids thought it was fun for about 15 minutes and then they thought it was cold! So, everyone climbed into the sandbox to get sand stuck in all their nooks and crannies!

IMG_5672

Thanks Eitzens for a fun day. Hope we get to do it again sometime!

p.s. For all you faithful readers...I will post later about our stop at a veteran's memorial on the way home {they had REAL army tanks!} But right now I have to go get ready to go see this movie! Gotta get some clothes off the line and get the kids stuff out so Grandma can come over and watch them!

I'm off to the movies!

Weekend Creativity

The house is relatively clean, things are almost in line for Alyssa to babysit while I am gone this week and the laundry is clean, it just needs to be folded.

The kids are with their Dad.

What is a girl to do when most of the work is done?

Play of course!

So that's what I did this afternoon...on my new laptop I might add! Yep, Jeremy took the hint {or guilt trip} and bought me one for my birthday. Okay, technically, I ordered it myself, but you get the idea! And I LOVE IT! Now I can sit in the recliner or on the couch and work away {work is used loosely here!!}.

This is a little mini album that I am working on for Cambree Jane. I eventually will get to Preston, but I had this "girly" background to work with and decided to start there. When it's all said and done it will fit into name badge holders {you know, the plastic ones?} and then assembled with some adorable type of binding. I don't know if I will let her carry this around with her, but probably add it to a basket in the living room that the kids can look through as they wish.

If I was super creative I would have added some quotes, life lessons, etc that I want her to know, but for now just enjoying the pleasures of being little is fine with me!

My Grandma

The whole fam had dentists appointments today and while sitting in the waiting room with Cambree we had an encounter with a man named Gary Moore.

He sat down and asked if we were from Comanche county. I said we were, Coldwater to be exact. He grew up around here and lives between Medicine Lodge and Sharon now. He still has some cousins and second cousins that live in/around Coldwater and Protection.

We carried on quite a lengthy conversation and he mentioned that he was there with his sister. She was having a bought with cancer and he had driven her over for her dentist appointment. Then he mentioned that, in fact, she still did her banking in Coldwater with Jim Herrington. I mentioned that my grandma used to work at that bank before she passed away.

He sat there, obviously trying to think who I might have been referring to. So, I offered up her name, Loretta Frazier. Immediately his eyes lit up and and he said the thing that everyone who finds out she was my grandma says,

"She was a sweet lady. Something special."

And my heart makes its way up into my throat and I get goose bumps and I ALWAYS think to myself,

"Will people say the same thing about me when I am gone? Am I doing the things she would do? Would she be proud of me? Am I being the example she taught me to be?"

The people who speak so highly of her will never really know the impact they are making on me. Maybe those people aren't as "coincidental" as I think they are...who knows. What I do know is that every time I hear someone refer to her as {special} it touches me and I think how truly wonderful she was. If these random, daily acquaintances think she was special, just imagine what her Granddaughter thought of her!!!

{Sadly, I don't have any digital pictures to post of her and I don't have a scanner, but if you are ever at my house you will see her picture prominently displayed. Just ask me about her...I would love to tell you about her!}

I want one of these!

Is this not the cutest little cooler you have ever seen? Yes it is an oilcloth cooler!!!!

We really need one of these this summer while we are packing lunches for t-ball! And wouldn't it make it so much more fun to have spontaneous picnics? You can get them here.

Enthusiasm!

I didn't take my camera with me to T-ball tonight, but I got some great comments from Preston's coaches after the game.

Preston is a very enthusiastic player. He loves to see everyone do a good job and he is the best at encouraging his teammates.

Tonight our first baseman caught a pop-fly and apparently Preston told his coach

"I just have to take my glove off and clap for that!"

She told him to go for it as long as he had his glove on before the next batter got up!

And we have several older boys who can hit home-runs....and P thinks this is one of the greatest things about the game. While waiting on third for the next batter he told the third base coach,

"We have a lot of strong hitters on our team ya know!"

They love him and think he is hilarious, which he is. Where he comes up with this stuff I do not know.

All I can say as his mother is that I am so thankful he is enthusiastic about it and that he wants to keep playing...even after being tagged out at first base tonight.

Happy Monday

May your week be filled with snow cones that turn your tongue wild colors

and more T-ball!

Another Mom & Me

I had the opportunity to photography Lona & Sabra recently as part of the Mom & Me special during May. They are both very photogenic and I think everyone had a great time. Thanks to Grandma Maxine for doing this for their family!

Birthday Picnics

This weekend was so much fun! We had two birthday picnics in a row!

IMG_5561

We started out on Friday celebrating my 28th birthday at the park with food from the Kremee and cake and ice cream. It was mainly a matter of convenience that night...my kitchen was a mess and so was mom's {from work projects} so it was just easier to eat at the park.

IMG_5551

But it was such fun that we decided we would do it again on Saturday night to celebrate Papa's birthday early since all of his boys would be home.

IMG_5570

Papa hauled the Traeger to the park and fixed us some GOOD burgers. Wayland said it might have been the best one he's ever had! And we had coleslaw, chips, beans and of course cake and ice cream later.

Wayland got a new camera that he doesn't know how to operate

The girls rode the "buckin' bull!"

And my favorite shot from the evening
IMG_5588

This is what you get when you tell the kids to say "Papa's an old man!" LOTS OF SMILES!!

And Traci reminded me that I have been blogging for over a year now...{doesn't seem possible to me} and wanted to know if I was going to do a 28 things list. So I started working on it, but it's not completed yet. I will post it when it is though!

First T-ball game

This didn't get posted as early as I had hoped, but here are the pictures from our first T-ball game last Thursday.

SCORE!

IMG_5547

and left field {sort of}
IMG_5548It's pretty boring out there!

We won by two runs, but most importantly we had a GREAT TIME! The best part of the whole evening occured while Preston was batting. He kept hitting the tee and not the ball, so Jeremy told him {from the stands} "Keep your eye on the top of the ball."

Preston turned around and told him "I AM!"

Maybe no more coaching from the stands DAD! Jeremy did refrain from commenting the next time he got up to bat. Preston later told me that he was just getting confused when it was time to bat...whatever that means.

Second game tonight and he is just as excited about this one as the first!
